Light My Spirit
October 29 – November 2
Rooted in Remembrance is a curated five-day retreat for women seeking to honor their ancestors, reconnect with their lineage, and experience the living traditions of Hanal Pixán in the heart of Yucatán.
Set amidst the warmth, beauty, and cultural richness of Mérida, this immersive journey invites you to slow down and step into a sacred time of remembrance, gratitude, and connection.
Through yoga, ritual, cultural immersion, and sisterhood, we gather to celebrate those who came before us and explore the wisdom, stories, and blessings that continue to shape our lives.
This is not a retreat about loss.
It is an invitation to remember, honor, and celebrate the continuity of life.
An Experience of Ancestral Connection and Cultural Tradition
At the heart of Rooted in Remembrance is the understanding that our ancestors live on through memory, tradition, and the gifts they have passed forward.
Inspired by Hanal Pixán, the Maya celebration honoring loved ones who have crossed over, this retreat offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with ancestral wisdom while experiencing one of Yucatán's most cherished cultural traditions.
Through intentional rituals, community gatherings, and immersive local experiences, participants are invited into a deeper relationship with themselves, their heritage, and the unseen threads that connect generations.
Here, remembrance becomes a practice.
Gratitude becomes a ceremony.
Connection becomes a living experience.
Rooted in Remembrance is designed for women seeking a deeper connection with themselves, their ancestors, and meaningful traditions.
This experience may be right for you if you are longing to:
Whether your ancestors are known or unknown, this retreat offers a welcoming space to remember, reflect, and reconnect.
Each element of the retreat has been thoughtfully curated to support remembrance, reflection, and connection.
Build a sacred altar using photographs, keepsakes, candles, flowers, and meaningful objects. This portable altar becomes a personal space for honoring ancestors throughout the retreat and beyond.
Daily practices designed to cultivate presence, gratitude, and inner connection.
Guided exercises to explore personal stories, family legacy, and the wisdom carried through generations.
Opportunities to soften, listen, and receive through sound therapy and nurturing self-care practices.
Learn about the symbolism, customs, and community celebrations that make Hanal Pixán such a treasured tradition throughout Yucatán.
Enjoy authentic seasonal dishes, including the beloved Mucbipollo (Pib)—a ceremonial tamal prepared with masa, chicken, espelón beans, and aromatic herbs, traditionally cooked underground and shared with family and ancestors during this sacred time.
Participate in one of Mérida's most vibrant celebrations as thousands gather for the annual Catrina Parade. Beginning at the Monumento a la Patria and winding through Paseo de Montejo into the historic center, this joyful procession honors remembrance through music, art, dance, and community.
These experiences invite you to honor the past, celebrate the present, and carry forward what matters most.
Just as important as the retreat itself is the place that holds it.
During Hanal Pixán, Mérida transforms into a living expression of remembrance. Streets fill with altars, flowers, music, traditional foods, and gatherings that celebrate the enduring bond between generations.
Rather than observing from a distance, participants are invited to experience this tradition from within—through local customs, community celebrations, and meaningful cultural encounters.
The city becomes both teacher and companion.
A place where memory is honored.
A place where life and remembrance exist side by side.
